Auvers-sur-Oise is a scenic, small village located on a river and surrounded by wheat fields. It became most famous for being the place where Vincent Van Gogh created 70 paintings in 70 days during the last months of his life. Because Auvers-sur-Oise has been designated an eternal village that cannot be altered, things look pretty much the same as they did when Van Gogh lived there in 1890. Even so Auvers-sur-Oise is less than 30 kilometers from Paris and is on main rail lines. For more information see: http://on.wsj.com/2iGnAnm
